Conscious Breathing
I started a series of Yoga classes last week, and it was the kind I love the best; slow, deliberate, not unlike a guided meditation. Time slowed down for once as the mind chatter stopped and my body listened and moved to the directions.
How often do we take the time to stop and listen to the body we inhabit?
How often do we acknowledge the muscles that keep us upright and mobile?
Yoga is another kind of body work that leads us to back to ourselves through CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT & BREATH.
I had an AhHa moment as we were asked to “breathe the mind into the ‘belly’ where our (will) power is.” For all the years (off & on) I have been doing yoga it was the first time I made the connection between belly breathing & the solar plexus chakra. We not only breathe in oxygen with each breath, but also prana, the life sustaining force which pervades all living organisms and the universe.
Here we have another tool to connect to spirit, right under our nose and we are too busy to use it. Thank heaven breathing is an involuntary action, or we would be in big trouble.
Tibetan Breathing is a healing, energy directed, breath meditation that has been taught in different traditions around the world. It is a conscious collaboration with the body through a powerful but simple series of breathing techniques which can relieve stress, trauma, increase vitality & bring balance to body mind and spirit.
Tibetan Breathing is also an empowerment tool. As long as you are conscious there is always something you can do to help yourself.
It is a powerful companion on the road to full awakening.
Just breathe……
Tibetan Breathing is being offered at A Magical Space, Saturday, February 7/09. For info and registration, click here.
