Do you have enough stuff yet?

A friend sent me this George Carlin clip talking about how we deal with our “Stuff”.
Very funny, and very true.

Well I thought that would be a great kick-off to eliminating some of my own stuff.

Some books suggest that even 20 minutes a day of clearing & pitching will soon add up to a lot more of nothing.
I can handle that.

When it comes to packing up to move, it is incredible how many boxes are needed to pack up a kitchen.

The 'to go' pile grows

The "to go" pile grows

I decided to tackle only 2 drawers & a large utensil jar on the counter.  The ‘to go’ pile was quickly heaped with duplicate utensils from a long gone cottage, cracked wooden spoons and old can openers.   The only thing I hesitated over was, an old egg separater and an iron meat tenderizer which are two antique keepsakes from my grandmother.   (I think have been carrying them around longer than she owned them.)

Boy, even mundane things hold memories.

I know there is still lots of clutter on kitchen counters, drawers & cupboards but there is a large bag of ’stuff’ I won’t be taking with me.It is destined for Rummage to become someone else’s stuff.  I am feeling energized and looking forward to trying it again tomorrow.
If anyone is listening out there in blogland, write and share your story.
I need some encouragement to keep going.

Until next time.
